When CorelDRAW X7 starts, it attempts to contact corel.com to verify the serial number. By modifying the hosts file—a system file that maps hostnames to IP addresses—we can tell Windows that all Corel servers are located at 127.0.0.1 (your own computer). Since the verification server isn’t actually on your computer, the connection fails, allowing the local activation to remain valid.
Blocking apps.corel.com prevents:
