French horn players have adopted BE more enthusiastically than any other non-trumpet group. The adoption was driven largely by a horn player named Valerie Wells (and others), who struggled with her own embouchure and found that BE solved problems that conventional horn pedagogy could not. Wells, with Smiley's permission, developed a notated adaptation for horn and eventually took over sales and counseling for BE to horn players.
